Lead or galvanized water services will be replaced as part of the 2026 Lead Service Line Replacement (LSLR) Projects. This project is a continuation of work to identify lead or galvanized services that began in 2024 with a customer survey used to self-identify water service line materials.

Following the initial customer survey, a City and WHKS staff conducted verification inspections of properties that reported lead or galvanized service lines. Prior to replacement, an additional inspection will be conducted by the City’s Contractor, selected through a future public bidding process, to verify the service line material.

The proposed construction will utilize trenchless methods when possible. A typical service line replacement includes digging a hole at the water main or curb stop, threading a cable through the existing water service line, connecting the cable to the new water service pipe inside the residence, and pulling out the old service pipe while simultaneously installing the new service pipe.

Typically, the Contractor will remove a portion of the concrete floor or exterior wall where the existing water service enters the building. After the service line is replaced, the affected floor and/or wall would be restored.

After your service line is replaced, you should run all cold water faucets for 30 minutes. You will be provided with a pitcher filter and a 6 month supply of filters as part of the project.

Service line replacements are anticipated to be performed between late summer 2026 and early summer 2027.

In order for the City to perform the service line replacement on your property, a LSLR agreement must be signed and returned to the City. Use the link below to access your City's agreement. The links will be updated after each City awards the construction project and determines a construction schedule.
